FOSTERING CHRISTIAN GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT THROUGH INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION & LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

"Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."

Robert Kennedy (from his famous “Ripple of Hope” speech at the University of Capetown, 1966)

OUR STRATEGY FOR CHRISTIAN GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT
The ultimate purpose of the Center for Faith & Global Education is to empower Christians to respond to God’s calling and use their gifts and abilities to help serve a needy and hurting world. There are many other Christian ministries that have similar goals and use various approaches to achieve them. Our approach focuses on one important aspect of Christian mobilization: faith-based international education and training.

Although our programs and services seek to provide a broad range of positive outcomes, they are basically designed to accomplish five transformational goals:

Motivate: to foster awareness and interest in other cultures, societies and global problems through communication strategies and vision-casting. We do this through promotional and communication vehicles such as our website, online articles and print publications, presentations, conferences, church-based seminars, and networking.

Educate: to train and equip Christians with intercultural servant-leadership skills and a practical understanding of global and regional issues. All of our overseas study programs have been created to achieve this purpose through faith-integrated academic studies, educational excursions, and community service projects. This is the core of what we do.

Activate: to inspire, empower, and direct people to take action to solve global problems through their professional work or volunteer service in order to make a positive difference in the lives of people around the world. We strive to accomplish this with a “next steps” segment at the end of all our programs, and offering a section of our website called the World Christian Service Directory that will provide information about internationally-oriented Christian ministries, organizations, companies, and training programs.

Advocate: to help Christians to become strong advocates for the international causes that they develop a passion for so that they become champions for those causes in their work, churches, and communities. We realize this goal through ongoing encouragement and mentoring of program participants and by providing them with resources and training in the areas of public policy advocacy, citizen diplomacy, church mobilization, campus and community activism, and social networking.

Collaborate: to connect Christians with networks of like-minded people and ministries and organizations that are committed to serving in specific global issue areas through alumni networks, social media (such as Facebook and Twitter), developing partnerships and cooperative projects, and by offering regional and national conferences.
